Looks like Georgia finally have their quarterback in JT Daniels The problem is he seems to have found him as every other aspect of the squad crumbles

Daniels carried Georgia all night as he destroyed Mississippi State He threw for 401 yards and four touchdowns in the win Those numbers surpass anything he did when he was freshman at USC It was literally the best game a Georgian quarterback has had under Kirby Smart, as he threw the most yards in a single game in the Smart era

And Daniels’ numbers arguably would have been better With the score tied at 24, Daniels delivered perfect back-to-back passes to Kearis Jackson and George Pickens But both ended in drops

Never mind for Daniels, as he found Jackson third in the go-ahead score Georgia won 31-24 to go 5-2 this season

Maybe the takeaway from the game was Georgia needed everything from Daniels as the Bulldogs struggled in other areas Georgia had just 12 rushing yards in the game, the lowest total in the Smart era.The defense also struggled fiercely for much of the first three quarters against the Mississippi State offense. p>

Daniels became Georgia’s first quarterback to throw for 400 yards in a game since Aaron Murray in 2013 On Saturday Daniels was just as good as Murray when he was in Athens

Mississippi State had no Heisman Trophy contender for quarterback He was the real rookie Will Rogers The Starkville Bulldogs haven’t had a good offensive performance since Game 1 of the season

And yet the Georgia defense made them look good Rogers looked ready and indifferent as he threw 336 yards on 41 of 52 pass attempts

Georgia seemed happy to let Mississippi State take a short pass after a short pass, which put them in favorable positions for the second and third downs Mississippi State was able to keep Georgia’s attack off the field as Mississippi State converted with 7 of 13 attempts

Georgia’s defense started to perform better in the second half after giving up a touchdown on the first drive The Bulldogs finally started pushing as Jermaine Johnson and Azeez Ojulari had sacks in the second half, with the end from Ojulari’s last record in Mississippi State

The defense was once again without Richard LeCounte and Jordan Davis But should the loss of these two players deserve such a big drop in the game? This is a Georgian team that has signed one of the top three recruiting classes in each of the last four recruiting rounds And the state of Mississippi only brought 49 fellows to the game

It is clear that something is wrong with the Georgian defense Can it be fixed this season? Maybe if LeCounte comes back But a player, even someone as good as LeCounte, shouldn’t make a full defense

Entering the game, first-year wide receiver Jermaine Burton collected 130 receiving yards and a touchdown

In the first half against Mississippi State he passed that with 149 yards on seven catches He also scored on Georgia’s last offensive play of the first half to tie the game

And then he came out and scored on a 48-yard touchdown in Georgia’s first practice in the second period

Burton finished the game with eight catches for 197 yards to go with the touchdown It was almost a record-breaking performance in school, as he fell just ahead of Taverres King’s 205 yards against Michigan State in 2011

It helped Georgia bring George Pickens back into the game He made an immediate connection with Daniels as he had a 28-yard grab and run in the first practice Pickens finished with 87 yards on eight catches It was his most productive game of the season and he found the end zone for the first time since Auburn’s game

The wide receiver has been a serious concern in recent seasons for Georgia With promising play from Burton – a freshman – and Pickens – a sophomore – it has been an encouraging evening for the post

So the Bulldogs followed suit and wore the black jerseys for the first time since 2016

Overall, people seemed to like the way they looked and it got them excited ahead of the game for what was a pretty opponent in Mississippi State

Granted, the initial response to the swimsuits on social media was positive but as Georgia struggled again in black threads, it feels like we might not see them again for a while, and certainly not in a game of consequences

I can’t tell you how nice it is to be at Sanford Stadium on a Saturday night in November

When we beat this stupid virus, I hope we have the biggest party this stadium has ever seen (wearing black jerseys, of course)

This is only the fifth time in the program’s history that Georgia has worn them and the second time under Kirby Smart Both times under Smart were both in November games in which Georgia was not in control. his own destiny by winning the SEC East

Do you need to wear and review these jerseys? Only Smart knows and ultimately controls if this is the case
