Authorities in Wisconsin are still looking for the suspect at large who shot and injured seven adults and a teenager on Friday at a shopping mall in suburban Milwaukee

On Friday afternoon, a suspected gunman identified as a “white man in his twenties or thirties” shot and wounded eight people near the entrance to a Macy’s store, according to the Wauwatosa police chief, Barry Weber, The Associated Press reported

One victim said they heard eight to twelve gunshots near the entrance to the mall, and several others said they fell “immediately” to the ground after recognizing the sound of the gunfire, WISN- reported TV, a local subsidiary of ABC

The extent of the injuries to the victims is unknown, but all are alive and seeking medical treatment

The gunman reportedly fled the scene before emergency personnel arrived, and Wauwatosa Police issued a statement saying Mayfair Shopping Center would be closed on Saturday and until further notice

Heavily armed FBI agents carried out the process of “orderly” cleaning up the mall of anyone still inside after the shooting, the AP added

Preliminary findings of the investigation have led authorities to believe the shooting was not a random act but sparked off by an altercation at the scene, according to interviews with witnesses

Police stayed at the mall late Friday and Saturday morning looking for potential evidence leading to the suspect at large
